Ohioan elected regional director for InterPride
Glasgow, Scotland-Cleveland lesbian, gay, bi, trans Pride coordinator Brynna Fish was elected as a regional director for InterPride, a coalition of pride committees from around the world. The election took place during the 18th annual InterPride conference, held this year in Glasgow, Scotland.
InterPride is organized in 22 regions around the globe. Each region has two elected director positions which serve on the international board. Fish will serve a two-year term as director of region 4 which includes Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa and the Dakotas. Delegates also elected Perin Hurewitz of New York City's Pride Committee, Heritage of Pride, as female co-president of the organization. She joins Teddy' Witherington of San Francisco, who serves the second year of a two-year term as male co-president.

InterPride
InterPride conference along with Brynna was Michael Flickinger, Cleveland Pride committee's sponsorships chair.
Over one hundred and twenty pride organizers representing pride committees from around the world attended the conference. This was the first time the conference has been held outside North America. Committees from sixteen countries organizing events drawing over 10 million people met over the weekend of October 21-24 to attend workshops and discuss ways of working more closely together.
Conference attendees selected "Take Pride, Take Joy, Take Action" as the international theme for Pride events across the globe for the year 2000. Delegates also heard from organizers in Rome about preparations for next year's first ever World Pride event.
Opening plenary keynote speaker, Wendy Alexander, minister for communities in the newly elected Scottish Parliament, underlined the Scottish Government's commitment to equality and said:
